2017 Service Fee’s Announced
Scenic Lodge has announced its service fees for 2017 in the lead-up to Black Heart Bart’s defence of the Group 1 Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville on May 20. Black Heart Bart is the chief earner by Scenic Lodge champion Blackfriars and a sixth elite-level triumph on Saturday week will see his bank-balance soaring through $4 million.
His trainer Darren Weir will also prepare promising Blackfriars stakes winner Chocolate Holic for Perth-based owner-trainers Grant & Alana Williams. He goes east after 7 wins from 11 starts topped by Listed victories in the Carbine Club Of WA Stakes and Northam Cup.
BLACKFRIARS (Danehill) has been Champion WA Sire for the last 6 years and he will claim the title by a convincing margin again in 2016-17. “He’s constantly ranked in the Australian Top 20 and his fee is unchanged at $12,000,” Scenic Lodge general manager Jeremy Smith confirmed. “He’s amazing value considering the fees of similar standard stallions in NSW and Victoria.” Now entering the twilight of his stud career, Blackfriars will cover restricted numbers this year and breeders are advised to make an early booking.
SNIPPETSON (Snippets) is ranked a clear second for the WA prizemoney premiership but he does lead Blackfriars on the individual winners’ table 80 to 76 with daylight third on 47. “He’s having a tremendous season with his three year-olds,” Smith said. “There have been 36 winners of 48 races and that puts him in the Top 6 in Australia.” Snippetson was crowned WA Champion 2YO Sire in 2015-16 and a week after clinching the title he sired Mystic Master to win the G3 Singapore Juvenile Championship.
UNIVERSAL RULER (Scenic) has been making admirable progress from limited books early in his stud career and that will change for the better with his largest foal-crop turning two on August 1. Buyers paid $50,000-plus for them at this year’s Perth Magic Millions and they’re sure to take him to another level. “Like Scenic, he’s siring horses with sizzling early speed that race on,” Smith said. “We’ve reduced his fee for this year but I’m confident broodmare owners will look back in the seasons ahead and realize it was a bargain.”
Owners with a Universal Ruler are also taking advantage of the Westspeed Platinum Scheme. His 3yo filly Military Reign had banked $531,200 after winning the Listed Beaufine Stakes last year and that included a record-breaking $180,000 in bonus pay-outs.
DASH FOR CASH (Secret Savings) continued to churn out winner after winner in April like Lady Vixen on debut at the Gold Coast and Miss Counterfeit who completed a running double at Ballarat. “He’s the best-value, proven stallion in the State,” Smith declared. “He gets them at an outstanding overall strike rate of 64% and Blackfriars is the only locally-based stallion to have sired more winners.”
Dash For Cash sires great types and they are commercial as evidenced when buyers bid up to $95,000 for his first Sunspeed-bred yearlings at the Perth Magic Millions in February.
Scenic Lodge service fees are also subject to discount structures for early confirmed bookings. For further details, contact Jeremy Smith on 0419 943 356 or [email protected]
