{"id":379,"date":"2013-07-20T03:46:21","date_gmt":"2013-07-20T03:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sceniclodgestud.com.au\/?p=379"},"modified":"2013-08-20T04:37:34","modified_gmt":"2013-08-20T04:37:34","slug":"rulers-impress-mcauliffe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sceniclodgestud.com.au\/rulers-impress-mcauliffe\/","title":{"rendered":"Rulers Impress McAuliffe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ascot trainer Darren McAuliffe is upbeat about the future of his Blackfriars two year-old Ram Jam.<\/p>\n<p>Ram Jam (2g Blackfriars \u2013 Nurse Betty by Johannesburg) won the Pinjarra Park on Facebook Maiden (1400m) on Thursday after powering panels clear at the top of the straight.\u00a0 \u201cHe\u2019s a different Blackfriars and is a bit finer than most of them,\u201d McAuliffe said.\u00a0 \u201cBut there\u2019s plenty of staying ability in him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ram Jam has a rising two year-old half-sister by Universal Ruler who stands alongside Blackfriars at Scenic Lodge.\u00a0 And if McAuliffe is optimistic about Ram Jam, he positively bubbles with enthusiasm when previewing the first crop of Universal Ruler.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got 20 of them and the half-sister to Ram Jam is a nice filly,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cShe broke in well but can be a bit of a Miss.\u00a0 That\u2019s okay, I don\u2019t mind some fire in a filly.\u00a0 She will go early.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McAuliffe reckons he has a few Universal Rulers that will be prominent when the two year-olds get mobile in October.\u00a0 Among the early ones, he pin-pointed the half-brothers to LR Perth Stakes winner El Rijes (Eternity Range) and LR Aquanita Stakes winner Rebelson (Snippetson).<\/p>\n<p>Prepared by McAuliffe in an all-too-short 12 start career, Universal Ruler (Scenic) defeated Scenic Blast in the LR Perth Stakes at two and returned to claim the LR Bunbury Stakes and LR Easter Stakes at Ascot as a three year-old.<\/p>\n<p>McAuliffe trains under the Impressive Racing banner.\u00a0 He founded the company with businessman Kevin Berry in 2004 and they\u2019ve continued to support Universal Ruler at stud.<\/p>\n<p>Universal Ruler will stand for a $3,850 (inc gst) service fee at Scenic Lodge this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ascot trainer Darren McAuliffe is upbeat about the future of his Blackfriars two year-old Ram Jam.
